The sport of Pilot Gig Racing has evolved over a number of years from what was once a way of earning a living. Throughout the history of the pilot gig there have been heroic rescues, jobs in pilotage and it is now a rapidly expanding sport.

Bristol Gig Club is a relaxed and friendly club, located at the Underfall Boatyard in Bristol’s historic floating harbour.

Our aim is to develop pilot gig rowing and sailing to a standard that will allow the city to compete with the best teams in the West Country. Open sea rowing can be carried out from a variety of locations in the Bristol Channel.

The club is open to new members, beginners and experienced rowers, as well as visitors from other clubs.
